The Joy of Supplication: How the Kingdom Really Works

By David Bolt, Founder of TenXed

A True Story: The Queen Who Changed Her Kingdom by Kneeling

In the year 1554, England was on the edge. Queen Mary Tudor—fierce and feared—sat on the throne. Her half-sister Elizabeth, young and Protestant, was locked in the Tower of London, accused of treason.

But Elizabeth didn’t fight her way out. She didn’t plead for allies or rally a rebellion. Instead, she wrote a letter.

A handwritten petition to the Queen, filled with humility and conviction. She laid her case before the throne, trusting that truth—and grace—might win the day.

And it did. That quiet act preserved her life. Years later, she would become Queen Elizabeth I—the monarch who reshaped a nation.

The Kingdom was preserved not by force.

But by petition.

Kingdom Rhythm: S.E.R.V.E.

At TenXed, we believe leadership doesn’t begin with strategy. It begins with surrender. What Ellie and I did this week wasn’t a business move. It was a Kingdom one.

S – Submit Your Role

We’re not owners—we’re stewards. This week, I woke with pressure pressing in. The house was quiet, the kids at school, and I felt that itch to hustle. To strive. But something in my spirit said, “Stop. Kneel first.”

So we did.

E – Examine the Territory

Ellie and I are diligent. We budget well. We track accounts and align our spending with our values. But this wasn’t about finance. This was about our field. We went through every department—our home, our kids, our business, our ministry calling.

Not to spreadsheet it.

But to present it.

Like generals reporting to the King before battle:

“These are the horses, these are the tents, these are the needs of the cooks and carriers.”

R – Request With Boldness

Seven or eight sheets of paper later, we had a comprehensive list—not just needs, but vision. Provision requests. Big dreams and quiet asks. Then we rolled them up… and placed them in a glass jar at the front door.

As if to say:

“Here, King. We trust You with it all. This is Yours.”

We didn’t strategise next steps. We didn’t fundraise. We didn’t force solutions.

We posted it to heaven.

V – Verify the Alignment

Every part of this came from one shared heart: Seek first the Kingdom. We’re leaning into TenXed not for clout, but to serve mission-driven leaders. We’re focused on the charities we’re called to support. The people we’re meant to equip. The legacy we’re meant to leave as a family.

This list? It’s not selfish. It’s surrendered.

E – Expect the Joy

And here’s the miracle. We didn’t get a cheque in the mail or a lightning bolt of provision (not yet). But we smiled. Deeply. The kind of joy you don’t fake. The kind that says, we’ve aligned with heaven.

We’d done our part.

The King will do His.

There’s a way to build that doesn’t begin with effort—it begins with trust.

There’s a strategy that doesn’t start with graphs—but with gratitude.

So if you’re under pressure today, try this:

Don’t rush the battle. Report to the throne.

Lay out your territory. Write your scroll. Roll it up.

And hand it to the King.

Smiles will follow. I promise.
